Hello! I am Fr. Jeremy Mohler and I took over as the Administrator of St. Catherine's Parish in July of 2024 after serving for nine years as a priest in a variety of assignments in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. A little bit of background on me. I grew up in Carrolltown (Cambria country) and went to St. Benedict’s church and school and later Bishop Carroll High School, graduating in 2001. I thought about a vocation to the priesthood even as a child but later on pushed those thoughts away as I thought about getting married someday and having a fun career. I enjoyed both sports and media which led to California University of PA and studying radio/tv communication. After college, I worked for a few years in college athletics but was finding this path unfulfilling. It was then that the idea of the priesthood began to come back in my mind and I started to consider my options. I decided to take a job with a printing company in Pittsburgh as I discerned where the Lord might be calling me. I started visiting the seminary in Pittsburgh and everything seemed to fall into place as I met the priests and seminarians there. So in 2009 I entered seminary for the Diocese of Pittsburgh at the age of 25. I spent two years at the minor seminary in Pittsburgh before four years of theology studies at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. While there were difficult moments for me, the calling to celibacy and the priesthood both grew in these years and I felt this was where God was leading me. I was blessed to be called to holy orders as I was ordained a deacon on June 14, 2014 and to the priesthood on June 27, 2015 at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. Anytime I am at the altar offering the sacrifice of the Mass or in the Confessional reconciling people to God’s mercy I know I am exactly where God wants me to be.
In recent years I started to consider moving back closer to home and to a diocese with smaller parish communities where it would be easier to get to know people. Eventually after communicating with Bishop David Zubik in Pittsburgh and Bishop Mark Bartchak here in Altoona-Johnstown, I asked for and was granted an assignment in the diocese here. So I am happy to be serving here at St. Catherine's and seeing how we can all work together to build the kingdom of God here in Duncansville. I look forward to getting to know you as we make this journey together! St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us!
